Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. That’s right, 3 shoots, because we learn by doing. This workshop is all about the photography. We want you to learn something from each shoot and immediately be able to apply it and practice. Focusing on working with a couple, breaking down a scene, using different types light, then we group discuss and move on to the next one.  No powerpoints, no dark conference rooms, no lectures. Just hands on image making awesomeness from morning to night. Co-hosted by the extremely talented Phil Chester.

October 25th 2017 // SOLD OUT // Joshua Tree CA

ALL THINGS SHOOTING. You’ll get to watch up close and personal how we shoot, as we explain our thought + shooting process, breaking down a composition, finding a balance between subject and scene, and getting our subjects really comfortable and able open up in front of the camera. Then its your turn. Instead of just letting you fire away, while we give you immediate feedback on the images you’re taking, real time. Real progress. Real awesome. After each shoot we’ll have a group chat about what went well, what we need to work on and how we can get better for the next shoot. This is seriously the secret to improvement. Figure out what your weak spots are and work on that!!

ALL THINGS EDITING. We’ll be editing the images from the day together as well so you’ll see how we cull a session, what we look for in a solid set and how we process them for different lighting scenarios. If you’re working on getting your editing tones right, we’ll get you going in the right direction. All attendees will receive Phil Chester’s Lightroom Presets if they don’t have them already as well as Sara’s unreleased top secret presets.

NO POWERPOINTS + NO LECTURES. We believe in group discussion and not boring you with some dark conference center where you have to listen to us blab the whole time. Bring a list of every question you’ve ever had and we’ll talk through it as a group and get to the bottom of it. This is all about you so nothing is off the table.

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION.

Here’s a preview of some of the places we will be shooting at.

FAQ

How much?

It’s $1500 and we’re capping it at 10 attendees max to keep things as intimate as possible

What are the shoot locations like?

We have a couple adorable restored airstream trailers, styled out in true retro fashion. As well as a mid century house and and a massive vintage boat parked in the middle of the desert. Not to mention, we have Joshua Tree as our backdrop.

What should I bring?

Bring a camera of choice, a laptop (optional), and an open mind.

How do I get there?

We recommend flying into Los Angeles (LAX) and making the drive down to J Tree. You can stop at In and Out Burger and also see the famous dinosaurs from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure in Cabazon!!

What food included in the workshop?

We’ll provide a hearty lunch and all the water your body can handle, its the desert! While we’ll have snacks available throughout the day, attendees are responsible for their own breakfast and dinner.

When and where is it held?

October 25th, from 8am through sunset in Joshua Tree California.

Where should I stay?

Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation. There’s a ridiculous amount of cheap airbnb’s in the Yucca Valley+Joshua Tree area. We’ll have a private facebook group for you and other attendees to coordinate travel/lodging if you want to save on a space.

Is it refundable?

The ticket for the workshop is non-refundable but is transferable to another photographer if you need to cancel.

Are you kitties coming?

While Pancakes and Pinecone (our kitties) would love to be cuddled up on people every second of the day, their lazy cat bodies would probably fry into a little cat crisp in the desert heat. So they’ll be home in the AC.
